At Fiza Chikankari
At Fiza Chikankari, we celebrate the timeless beauty of traditional craftsmanship blended with modern elegance. Rooted in the rich heritage of Chikankari embroidery, our brand brings you handcrafted pieces that reflect grace, sophistication, and authenticity.
The Craft: Lucknowi Chikankari
Lucknowi Chikankari is a centuries old form of hand embroidery, shaped in the cultural life of Awadh and refined over generations into one of the most recognised textile traditions of the Indian subcontinent.
Its development is often associated with the Mughal period, particularly under Nur Jahan, though the craft itself evolved gradually through the work of skilled artisans. Over time, a refined vocabulary of stitches emerged, each contributing to the character, texture, and depth of the surface.
Chikankari is created through a structured process. Designs are first transferred onto fabric using hand carved wooden blocks, after which karigars bring them to life through fine, controlled embroidery. The fabric is then washed and finished, allowing the threads to settle into the cloth and create a soft, layered effect.
While traditionally worked as white thread on fine muslin, Chikankari today extends across a wide range of fabrics including cotton, muslin, Chanderi, Kota Doria, georgette, silk and khadi. It is also seen in varied colour palettes, with both tonal and contrasting threads, as well as contemporary interpretations in prints and design layouts, while continuing to reflect the discipline and finesse of the original craft.
Fiza Chikan
Fiza Chikan brings this craft forward with a clear and considered approach.
With roots in Lucknow and a base in Dubai, the brand began by offering carefully selected pieces that reflect strong workmanship, fabric quality, and finish. Over the past few years, it has also developed its own designs in close collaboration with karigars, working on garments from the ground up.
These pieces are shaped with attention to proportion, motif placement, and overall balance, resulting in designs that are not commonly found and carry a distinct identity.
Alongside these, Fiza Chikan offers a wide and versatile range. From everyday cotton tops styled with ease, to kurtis, midis, suit sets, sarees, lehengas and ghararas, the collection spans both ready to wear and unstitched formats. Select pieces may also feature fine hand embroidery incorporating cut daana, sequins and similar detailing, worked carefully into the fabric.
The work extends across fabrics including cotton, muslin, georgette, Chanderi, munga silk, tissue, crepe and more, each chosen for how it complements the embroidery and the final form of the garment.
Every piece is selected or developed with a clear intent. The focus remains on creating clothing that feels well made, well balanced, and meaningful to own.
Fiza Chikan continues to grow through a steady, hands on approach, guided by long term relationships and a deep respect for the craft it represents.
